Key to a Successful Nonprofit Campaign
There are 1.5 million nonprofits in the United States. Kind of a large number, right?
Getting your nonprofit to stand out amongst the million of other ones can seem daunting and impossible. But, the key is to connect with people.
If people can’t connect with your nonprofit, why would they put their spare money towards your cause? Learn how to make people feel your cause even if they don’t have a personal connection to it.
One of the most successful nonprofit campaigns was done by the Invisible Children: Kony 2012. They released a 30 minute video that soon went viral with over 100 million views, exposing a guy named Joseph Kony for abducting young kids from their homes in Africa. How was this problem in Africa able to become a well known and cared about issue all around the world?
It’s because of how they were able to evoke emotions from the viewers and tell a story. Never underestimate the power that storytelling can have; it’s the most important tool you can utilize when creating your campaign. Pictures and videos can influence possible donors better than any number of written words.
It’s stressful to create a campaign for your nonprofit, not knowing where to even begin. But remember, focus on what you want people to feel when they see your campaign and the message that you’re trying to get across. Be raw, real, and connect with your audience and you’re sure to get a positive reaction.
